I first noticed these two girls when we arrived in North Beach around 1 PM. We parked right in front of where they were sitting. Two hours later they are still sitting. Texting and watching the people go by.

A new candy store opened in North Beach. I was intrigued by the sign offering free fudge samples. Inside there were barrels of salt water taffy and other confectionery goodies all over the place!

I saw this barrel of Laffy Taffy and thought it would make a good picture for a jigsaw puzzle.

At the intersection of Broadway and Columbus, in the heart of North Beach, you can stand on a small traffic island and look straight down Columbus at the Transamerica Pyramid.

Browsing lower level, City Lights Bookstore, September 5, 2010 3:39 PM

The famed City lights Bookstore is also at Broadway and Columbus. You could spend hours browsing the stacks and soaking up the atmosphere of the beat generation!

At the triple intersection of Grant, Broadway and Columbus you can look down into the heart of Chinatown. This brightly colored district is on my list of places to explore more thoroughly.

As I drove out North beach I passed the Transamerica Building. I stuck the camera out of the sunroof of the car and snapped pictures as I drove by (it was stop and go traffic, so not very dangerous). Most of them came out terrible but a view came out pretty good for just pointing and shooting without aiming.

The last three pictures were taken through the sun roof just as I drove by the Transamerica Pyramid and the First Bank Building next door. I really liked the graphic nature of these photos so I converted them to B&W to highlight it.
